A slower start than expected. Leiber sure does love referencing many fantasy and horror authors. For genre enthusiasts, this will either be satisfying or annoying. For those out of the loop, definitely annoying. But the characters are good... Will see where this goes.

I'm still invested in the overall plot, but the stories are beginning to drag and become predictable. There's also some deus ex machina here and there, and I'm unsure how to feel about Koike constantly depicting rape (even if it is historically accurate). But for all the lackluster/questionable things, there are a lot of great chapters and moments, too.

Decided to stick with it a bit longer. Still feeling very fatigued by it all. I will say that the audiobook provides a much better experience -- gives Tracker and the other characters more authenticity. The narrator, Dion Graham, is very talented. But due to the book's issues, I've lost interest in the story, so I'm going to stop reading here.

Well... The book had a strong start but seems to really be stretching out its middle. Its problems are becoming more apparent as I read (too repetitive, too desolate, etc.). Think I'll be throwing in the towel soon and writing a review.

I was wondering what would happen if Swamp Thing and Abby were to be caught together by an outsider. So far, the proceeding fallout is exceeding my expectations. Wicked awesome work.

Very haunting and sad stories. Exceptional, beautiful writing. I'm liking these a lot.

Not quite what I was hoping for. The characters are flat and the dialogue is stilted. There's not much atmosphere... Well, at least the idea is good.

So far I'm impressed and intrigued. A lot to take in. The world is fantastical, brutal, decadent and raw. I like what James is doing with Tracker's character and perspective. Compelling stuff.
