There are instances where the civilians observe disparate customs on sexual morality between upper and lower castes. what it implies in modern days is that classification of all non-Muslims as Hindus was essentially problematic and made emphasis on casteism necessary to fully explain varied customs in India.

The issue that I have with the management types is that they seem to obsessed with fighting. The terminology that they use is excessively associated with warfare. A lot of sensible and probably generalizable ideas are not explored only to satisfy this clientele.

The writing seems to be done in a very nostalgic manner. The resources quoted are well described but the author makes a careful and conscious attempt to escape postcolonial tendencies. This, I think, is necessary to describe "civilian" life in India. Individual goals and aspirations were hardly executions of a colonial plan.
