it’s always funny to me when i’m reading a book and one of the characters has my name - idk why i guess it’s cause i grew up never seeing my name ANYWHERE

i don’t know if i would go to NYC for my honeymoon lol

also i know i said i would hate this book if lydia and jonah ended up together but actually now im kinda feelin it 👀

i’m not gonna lie, the book feels like i’m just peering into another person’s life

i’m not saying you can’t talk about all these things in one book but there needs to be some kind of structure - it reads like the author is just writing about whatever she wants on whatever day she wrote it
it feels like there was no planning or focus
- this is a great first draft but not a finished product

the class is rarely discussed and brought in and out of the story in a very thrown together way - almost like an afterthought
3.) this book doesn’t know what it wants to be. is it a full on memoir? is it about the girls different POVS of classical literature that has been banned? is it just about the teacher and how teaching was affected after the war?

1.) each section covers the same conflicts that come with living in iran. everyone’s experience is important and i appreciated learning more about life in tehran; however, the issues discussed are very repetitive to the point where it all blurred together. each book that Nafasi talks about with her students are banned for the same reasons.
2.) there’s no narrative thread despite what the blurb says

this book has some major structural issues:
