I have grown to dislike the word ‘seems’. dictionaries are no help since the definition is circular: seems means ‘to appear’ and ‘appear’ means ‘to seem’.

Main character knows a person perfectly from five minute first impressions.

Maybe it’s incentivized by publishers, but, to my memory, main characters in these books are always dichotomously altruistic or nihilist.

Is it me or do a lot of recent Fantasy books start with rivals or antagonists teaming up for survival?

I believe this TV show is called Designated Survivor.

It’s a fun premise but I can’t help but remember the dozens of other books with the exact same conflict.
