Fitz is sixty and just as thick as in the first trilogy.

Dutiful could’ve just said the Fool was sick, but first he goes into a long story about what Chade told Ash, how Ash was feeling, how Kettricken was doing and feeling, etc.

bee gets kidnapped and the story is stuck in buckkeep for a song and a persecuted crow. The description of this insignificant harp is too much

painful summary of the first Farseer trilogy repeated for a third time.

Aside: I found the audiobook and the narrator gave the Fool a german accent for some unexplainable reason. He also pronounced valet as val-eh-t

Sort of doesn’t make sense that Fitz doesn’t think Bee has the Skill. She told him to put up his walls in the previous book. He’s really been extra oblivious and incurious.

Man, I’m really hoping this doesn’t lead to a rescue mission in the next book.

This books has been bickerings and squabbles tentpoled by three happenings.

New conflict at 90%.

Ogden makes reading about a walk down a street enjoyable.

I have an impression that most authors for adults I’ve read only have children characters in the age of 10 or older. Any years before 10 are avoided or treated as insignificant, and I can’t say for certain why that is.

It’s not the authors fault. She needed an escalation.

i can’t yet tell if i love this book. the inciting incident is perfect for me but the writing is elaborate and repetitive

Rabbit Test by Rebecca Mills. I liked it but it’s more of a serious of anecdotes.

The Six Deaths of the Saint: sentimentalism is fine, but it doesn’t, like, make sense? How could the Prince drown her and be standing far away at the same time? Why does she tell herself battle details but not life details? Why did the Prince order her back in the pool if he had nothing else to conquer?

I like Sparrows by Susan Palwick mostly because it has almost exactly the same premise as the TV show Class of 07, which I enjoyed. It also has a quote from Bede which was fun to research

I wonder why we don’t imagine dragons with bird wings.

Now that I think about it, dragons with bat wings doesn’t make sense since bats are mammals. It would make more scientific sense to have dragons with bird wings.
