These midway and later essays are incredible. The piece “Writing as a Rupture” grabbed me by the shoulders, sat my ass down, wiped my assumptions about my understandings off the table, lit a candle, and showed me shadows and forms I haven’t seen from objects I thought I knew. Looking forward to sitting more with this work.

Self help but for creatives. Listening to this book feels like scrolling through Instagram reels. Trying very hard not to DNF this but I don’t think this book is well-timed for me.

I don’t recommend listening to the audiobook ALONE without access to the written book. There are a handful of sections in the essays where Cree phrases are used that, without translations, can be difficult to understand contextually and ended up leaving me confused about what was being communicated. I wish I had e-book access but it’s a multi-month wait on Libby for me. Not a deal-breaker; just wish I had text.
