This Filipina American’s memoir-graphic novel seems like one that can give me an insight to what their family life is like...being separated from their ancestral country but still forming huge tight-knit communities overseas

Even one of the chief masterminds behind the internment camps, former CA governor Earl Warren, also expressed deep remorse over his decision. Good to see that people could seek redemption after all!

Lovely to see President Truman standing up against prejudice after he had just been elected President!

Racist attitudes toward the Japanese Americans (even the Japanese ethnic citizens who were born and raised in America) in the early 1940s permeated the American elites at the time... It's no wonder the internment camps were overwhelmingly supported by those WASPs...

There were a myriad of ways how Japanese Americans proved their loyalty to the United States after the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941...there were even Issei men committing suicide due to the shame of Pearl Harbor.

Starting this book to get a "feel" of what the ambiance of Chicago is like... This is one of the most celebrated Chicago-based pieces of literature of all time.

Interesting. Learned about the Kurds and how different they feel about their geopolitical history (and future) in contrast to their Arab compatriots
