In other words, feeling is formed by the deeds that one does; therefore I cannot consult it as a guide to action. And that is to say that I can neither seek within myself for an authentic impulse to action, nor can I expect, from some ethic, formulae that will enable me to act.

Subjectivism means, on the one hand, the freedom of the individual subject and, on the other, that man cannot pass beyond human subjectivity. To choose between this or that is at the same time to affirm the value of that which is chosen; for we are unable ever to choose the worse. What we choose is always the better; and nothing can be better for us unless it is better for all.

It states that if God does not exist, there is at least one
being in whom existence precedes essence -a being whose
existence comes before its essence, a being who exists before
he can be defined by any concept of it.

seems to be a very accessible introduction to existentialism and jean-paul's philosophy in general.
i like the part where he talks about how the purpose of a certain object and the way it is to be designed precedes its existence and then applies it to the concept of human life.

i think this might turn into a commentary on tech and thats rlly doing it for me

this is such a comfort read obviously falling into the same world with the same things that ive read/seen a million things that reading this feels like the movie is playing in my head but obviously it's not all sunshine - the stereotypes of Slytherin makes me mad and the obvious "anyone who's evil immediately is described as ugly" is annoying

prefacing this because i am aware of how problematic jkr is and i in no means condone it which is why i have more or less refrained from swooning over harry potter on social media but with that being said, i own the series and i grew up with it. these characters are so special to me and as much as i've tried to keep in mind the artist with the art, i haven't been successful with this.
