"As women's activities were redirected into the household, women became less collective, visible, and active in the late Medieval parish. The late agency that was at the heart of women's ability to turn the parish into a forum for their own spiritual practices ended as the *family* became an increasingly a religious unit that was on display in the parish. Women's identities subsumed within the family."

The Reformation changed the way families worshipped. The churches were once organized by sex to either side of the building, and that changed to be families sitting together. Women lost the togetherness and community they had with other women, and were subjugated under the increasing power of their husband's, as the priest was no longer the power above them but the husband over the wife as the "spiritual leader".

"We are all little fairies, sprinkling Meaning dust everywhere we go; this mountain will mean God, and that precipitation will mean Trouble. The vacuum of space will mean Emptiness, and the groundhog will mean Nature's Scorn for Human Absurdity. We will build meaning wherever we go with whatever we come across.
...What you're looking at matters, but not as much as how you're looking or who you're looking with."

"When women point out how cold office buildings are kept, they're often mocked for being overly sensitive. The journalist Taylor Lorenz tweeted that office air conditioning systems are sexist. The fact is, we are using precious fossil fuels to excessively cool an office building so that men wearing ornamental jackets (suits) will feel more comfortable."

"Many of the stars we see in the sky are Red Giants; Red Giants are common. It is common for stars to grow larger and engulf their once-habitable solar systems. It's no wonder we worry about the end of the world. Worlds end all the time.

There is a wide variance between people in countries and their belief in whether the world will end within their lifetimes. In France, it was 6%; in America, 22%."

"Work was no longer enough to sustain her. She needed people.
Wren started dining alone in cafes, diners, bars, and restaurants just to be near other people, the movements and sounds of lives being lived together. On one of these solo excursions, Wren met a man in a yellow shirt who made her feel that the world was a good place, and the world was a good place because she was someone living in it."

"How many generations of women had delayed their greatness only to have time extinguish it completely? How many women had run out of time while men didn't know what to do with theirs?
And what a mean trick to call such things holy or selfless. How evil to praise women for giving up each and every dream."
