So far, this book is good.

The comic is good. The story is dark and there’s a bit of violence that rivals seasons 3 and 4 of the cartoon series.
Also, Korra and Asami’s relationship is more developed and natural.

He's a walking red flag and she's just there. Both characters have no personality that doesn't revolve around sex and broken hearts. This book just isn't good.

Never mind. Drake Donovan is literally a cheap copy of Christian Grey lol
Also, the pacing of the story is not that great. There's no build up to Evangeline's and Drake's escapades, no tension. It's just "oh she's/he's hot" and that's that...

Is the author setting up the story so that Evangeline cures his misogyny? Because when he first sees her, he’s like “she’s not like the other women.” lol

The dialogue is unintentionally funny. Evangeline’s (main) POV written in a somewhat realistic way, but Donovan’s (love interest) is awkward. It’s like Banks tried making him the irresistible rich guy who’s more of an a-hole than classy. He’s like Christian Grey, but without the stalker behavior

“‘You’re going to be a star, Nettie.’”
McCurdy’s book is good so far. She narrates her life in the present tense & everything reads like it has a sense of urgency & resentment… & a bit of desperation to make sense of the very adult world that her mom pushed her to be a part of.
