The first time I read this series, I didn't realize how important Puck, the elf, was for Guts' characterization. Guts is hellbent on revenge while Puck doesn't understand a human's desire for something like that. It's a neat way of introducing the central theme of the series.

I honestly didn’t think that I was going to dig this series but now I’m hooked lol

The protagonist has to be the most miserable guy ever.
I can see why so many people say to read this when you're in a good state of mind.

The Psychologist's dialogue in the 4th chapter completely shifted the tone of the story. She sounded like a paranoid supervillain. But other than that, I'm enjoying VanderMeer's book. It's creepy, but descriptive and entertaining.
