Mrs Pollifax is hilarious! ----Mild Spoiler---- To escape from some baddies she has to hit a guard over the head with a rock but she almost doesn't because she's worried about what the garden club members and her pastor would think.🤣

Mrs Pollifax is amazing. I hope I'm like her when I'm an old lady, although I could probably do without the getting kidnapped part.

Sometimes writers are so iconic we forget they were people. I know where this story is going and it's making me sad. I really feel close to Edgar Allan Poe, maybe because he was just so darkly creative and I can relate.😄I'm getting a lot of history behind Poe's stories that are really helping me to understand the meanings behind them.

These names!!! I feel like I'm playing a memory game every time I read this. If ever a book needed a cast of characters at the front it's Crime and Punishment! This is how I've felt about the book so far🤨😕😰😵‍💫☹️🫤🤔🫤🫤 Just to be clear I don't hate this book or plan on giving up, I just hit a rough patch.

Ok, if nobody can give me a reason not to, I'm dnfing. This book is written in interviews which is an interesting idea but it just doesn't work for me. Characters are more important than plot IMHO. All I'm getting is a bunch of different people explaining how their buddy got bit so they had to kill them and guts went everywhere.🤢 I'll keep the book around for a bit but I don't think I'll pick it up again.

Got sick right after starting this book. My fevered brain was trying to tell me I was turning into a zombie.😂 So far this is just another thriller that over uses the word brains. I don't read violence for violence sake. I read apocalypse for the philosophy and human experience. Seeing how different people react in situations is what I find interesting.

I've been trying to read outside of my comfort zone this year. I found this book in a little free library and I know someone who likes it so why not. I may end up dnfing because zombies are NOT my favorite. I guess we'll see.🤷‍♀️

I close the book and set it on my nightstand. I turn if the lamp and cozy down into the covers. Time to sleep.🥱😌😑😳 I turn the lamp back on, pick up the book again and proceed to stay up way too late because I just HAVE to know what happens next. The trials we readers go through.

Talk about an emotional rollercoaster. Wilkie Collins is really putting me through the wringer. I haven't had much time for reading lately but hopefully I'll finish this soon.

Oh my goodness the Count and Lady are swine! My poor favorite character. 😱 Wilkie Collins was great at switching between narrators. He also had a great sense of humor. He is edging his way up my favorite Victorian authors.

Is anybody else confused on whether to use past or present tense for authors?
