The suspense is killing me! How is this book not almost over!

The Count is giving me the creeps!

😰🥺 That wasn't supposed to happen! I'm getting way too wrapped up in this book. I'm sick today so I thought "Oh goody, I can stay home and read the woman in White." Now I'm physically AND mentally sick to my stomach.

On a side note I was wondering why the page % on GR seemed off. It's because my edition's only 617 pages, duh.

Ok I'm kind of getting to like Mr Gilmore. Also there is a dog in this book! 🥰 I love dogs so it just made me happy lol.

Switching narrators is kind of annoying. Mr Gilmore seems kind of uninteresting. I hope he doesn't ruin the experience.

TWIW is surprisingly readable for mid Victorian. I really like it so far!

I wish I had more time for reading. I can't stand stopping on cliffhangers!

"I couldn't see her very well. The light was bad." Then goes on to describe her for two pages. 😂

Definitely not me starting another chunker without finishing the two others I'm currently reading.

"And I have one of those very loud, stupid laughs. I mean if I ever sat behind myself in a movie or something, I'd probably lean over and tell myself to please shut up."

This line cracked me up.

This book is interesting but it's taking me awhile to get through for some reason.

I am enjoying it so far but I still don't understand why in the world Salinger writes the way he does. Maybe the repetitiveness (if that's a word) is supposed to say something about Holden but I don't get it. So far I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone but I find it very interesting.

First thoughts:
why does it seem like Salinger is trying to impress us with how much language he can fit in to one page? The writing style could get a little annoying but we'll see.

Everytime Holden Caulfield says "I really would" or "I really wouldn't" it makes me think of Rolly from 101 dalmatians "I'm hungry mother, I really am".
