Her books remind me of Melina Marchetta’s in the best way.

I think my issue with this book (other than my reading slump) is that it feels like two wildly different books in one, and I’m unfortunately only really invested in Nina’s story.

I admit I had a hard time getting back into this story, but now I’m just reading slowly because I don’t want it to end. I am in awe of her storytelling chops.

Wow, these kids. Me thinks the kids are going to save us.

As usual with this series, I can’t remember anything book to book and have no idea what’s happening most of the time. But it’s entertaining?

I decided to cope with finishing Terry Pratchett’s last novel by re-reading the one that introduced me to him (and Gaiman). 👍🏻

It’s like American Gods and the X-Men had an evil baby.

This is so, so good. The plot, the characters, the narrator... I love it all.

This is not an easy read considering a lot of the subject matter and our current political climate. I might need a break.

Ok, I see that cover and the Mary Poppins comparisons, but this is straight up Jane Eyre with a MP umbrella joke. Not that I’m complaining.

I think I would be enjoying this a lot more if I hadn’t read and loved Marie Lu’s Legend series.

Y’all. I am *loving* this book. It’s so good.

Okaaaaay, leaving this as "currently reading" for now because it won't add it to my reading challenge as completed? Super weird.

Time for a re-read!
