Read first two chapters for class. Reading the next two next week. I am teaching NT next school year so i may try and read this whole thing sooner rather than later... we will see

Not sure I’m going to finish this book. Didn’t find most of the exegesis compelling, and he doesn’t seem to be answering questions well. Didn’t convince me to not baptize my baby

Kept being told this was the best book against infant baptism. So far it’s fine, but not the best. He has some iffy historical views and problematic views of the covenant. He seems to think that there is one covenant of grace, but within that covenant the make up of the cov body changes at some point? Weird.

Myers is incredible. I keep thinking I know everything about a covenant, then Myers humbles me and shows me how much greater God’s Word is than I had thought before. Praise the Lord!

Getting into Part II. Again, lots that isn’t in the movie. I understand Katniss so much more than I did before.

So good. I love seeing into Katniss’s head and seeing her thoughts. So much more detail than you get in the movies

Incredible book. This guy knows Scripture and theology so well, and his pastoral care makes me want to be more like Christ.

Read chapters on progressive cov and cov theology. His critiques of both are lacking, both for different reasons. Merkle is PC, so he goes super soft on them. I wish he would have had someone else write the assessment. His critiques of CT also were not great, mainly because it seemed like he didn't understand it all super well.

This book is good! Even knowing the outcomes, the book lets you see so much more into Katniss' head which is great.

Progressive cov is interesting. I seem to agree with a decent amount, but obviously disagree on some important things. There’s no love for allegory in this book which sucks.

Narrator isn’t the best, but this book is good so far. I haven’t read much fiction so I’m trying to get a taste of different types. Hoping to work through LOTR after this series (which won’t take long).

Excited to write a review for this one. Currently shaping up to be a top recommended resource on early church interpretation as it relates to modern hermeneutics and church life.
