Ham is starting In the Shadow of Lightning (Glass Immortals, #1)
Definitely the first book that made me cry in the first 3%.

My daughter is reading this to me. I tried to give her one with more pictures, but she wants this one. It's slow going, since she just turned 7 yesterday.

This book made my wife cry. Apparently it's the first time this has ever happened while reading a book. Needless to say, she's now forcing me to read it. (Don't tell anyone I'm reading a period romance.)

Maybe it's because I love video games, but this book has me by the throat. Love it so far. Thanks for the recommend, Rachel!

Enjoying it so far. (Although as it takes on a more romantic feel, my interest wanes.) I'm going to take a break since the library keeps making me return it. (With everything else I've got going on, I can't read a book in three weeks.) I guess I'll have to wait until it's less popular then I can check it out without having people harass me to return it.

Not usually my genre, but I'm surprised how much I like the author's voice. Maybe this open my eyes to the wonders of historical fiction.

So far the amount of adverbs and adjectives is astounding. The prose is so bad, I had to double check that this was actually published by Scholastic. The meat of the plot better be knock me over awesome.

Reading to examine Jo's writing style is fun . She gets away with a lot that most debut authors wouldn't be able to. Mostly telling adverbs, but the great plot and humor more than make up for the tiny imperfections.

The concept hooked me, but so far Shusterman isn't doing it justice. And I'm having a really hard time with the narrator. Horrible horrible reader. Should've found it in print. But I suppose if I end up hating the book simply because of the actor reading it, it's Shusterman's fault for not getting a better reader.

This is the second time around (waiting for it on hold at the library) and I'm so bummed that I've got to turn it in soon. This book continues to surprise me. I think I'm enjoying it just as much as the Harry Potter series. (Which is really saying something.) I think I'm going to just buy it, instead of waiting on the library.

Oh my gosh this book is AWESOME so far! I hope I can finish it before it's due a the library. (Can they honestly expect one to read 700 pages in three weeks?)
Okay it's doable, but I also have a full time job, three kids, and a budding writing career. Give a guy a break.

Really love the premise so far. My only qualm is the over-use of adverbs. She used "eagerly" five times on one page.

I've only picked up one other zombie book (P&P&Z) and I couldn't finish it.
Bad Taste in Boys, however is completely different. Rather than relying on shock factor and ridiculous violence to convey humor, Harris uses wit and clever dialogue. I'm in love with Kate! So far this book has made me laugh out loud several times. (People were looking at me on the bus.) Unless this has an uber-crappy ending it's getting 5!

yet another book that didn't advertise it's sequel-tude. It's irritating to have all the references to the first story thrown in when I obviously missed it all. I would've been very happy to get the first book, HAD I KNOWN!

So far it's more interesting than I thought it would be. It flushes out the characters we know from the movie and makes them more real. I especially appreciate that Zahn has captured the sarcasm between Han and Leia that made the first movies so great.

Ham is reading A Crooked Kind of Perfect
I'm through 1 1/2 CDs so far I think I've laughed more at this than anything I've listened to. I think it's mostly the actor reading it; she has the dry wit down pat. I'm hoping it continues like this. The plot is slow and feels a lot like the book I just read (When You Reach Me) but the sarcasm is keeping me interested.
