Not as tightly woven as End of America. A little to giddy and trite at times. Then again maybe I'm just too cynical, these days. This book will be struggle to get through; hard-slogging. Maybe I simply waited too late to read it.

The missile tech conversation with newly minted Flag Lt. (ensign) H. Zilwiki and Tac Officer H. Lynch was interesting and superfluous at the same time. Is that possible? So many mixed feelings about the direction of the Honorverse. One might actually wish to return to the simpler days of On Basilisk Station

Lethargic? I like the plot, I really do; the story is engaging if not for all the repetitious 'thought dialogue'. I can hardly imagine another 450+ pages of this stuff. When it all shakes out it may become apparent that it needed an editor to ruthlessly pare it down to 400 pages tops.
