Slow to start, but from there it speeds up. The almost comedic awfulness of the gods and Titans is pointed. It actually reminds me of Christopher Moore's "Lamb" in some places, weaving Greek mythology beasts' origin stories into the story of Circe. The birth and containment of the minotaur is pretty unforgettable and very violent. Readers, beware if you avoid gore.
