Probably the book that has been on my list the longest. Here's to a new read!

It has been such a long time since I last read a good dystopian text that I had forgotten how good the opening chapters are. Childan's introduction is sublime!

I am excited.

Sylvie's characterisation is quite typical in an 'average middle-aged women' sort of way but how she ties into the 1971 narrative is keeping me reading. Hera remains a mystery but I think there are a few twists upcoming.

An interesting plot and palatable narrators. Easy to read but has the potential for shock value. Enjoying it so far.

Feeling for Walt - he's had it hard. Low-key hope that the wheel of books is kinder to me the next time round. I need a couple of short texts to recover from this. It's borderline ASOIAF territory for depth. 'Characters' shouldn't share names, even if it means adjusting the history. Okay, it relates to real people but I can't handle having two Ediths when I'm not even that sure what a Saxon is.

We're halfway there and finally developing some fluency. Still on for finishing by March 1st. Slow & steady.

Meeting William for the first time. Seems a bit of a bastard in the literal and metaphorical sense. Still hard going but we're making progress!

I'm going to finish this book by the end of February even if it kills me. Very interesting to know what was happening in England at the time of Macbeth's reign (1040-1057) - an aspect of teaching GCSE Shakespeare that I likely don't do enough. We are learning.

Definitely settling into this now but still using Google on the regular. It's standing at a solid 3* for now.

I think I'm getting the gist. I'm getting bad-guy vibes from Harold but unsure if I should be.

My Google search history looks like a History NQT's.

A definite slow burner but enjoyable given the great visuals and decent historical depth. Have now taken to Googling just to keep up.

Walt & Quint have a sweet relationship.

I get the feeling that this friendship will allow Walt to open up, become more human and find resolution.

I also predict that Quint will die horribly somehow.

I don't expect a happy ending here if the multitude of corpses are a sign of things to come.
