Sometimes I giggle when I read Dunbar

A woman from India, if I remember correctly, doesn't understand jeans. How do women wear them? How do they even sit down? You have no idea the relief that her questions provided me.

I feel like this essay collection is starting to wear me down.

I love Dunbar so much. I have this book from Project Gutenberg (free) and love to read a poem here and there when I'm waiting for things to happen.

So far, really enjoying this book! It's like a very long short story, the kind that are allowed to have anything happen because the story is short enough to keep it all tidy.

So far, this collection is just amazing. I've never had all of Dunbar's poems in on book! I read them while I'm waiting for other things to start.

ALESIA: "That's an advantage of living in an area that's populated by actual black people. You get to see other black people living relatively normal lives, with bangin' hair. I only found natural communities because I have scalp issues...probably related to getting relaxers, and I was just Googling, and I was like What else can I do? Then I found natural hair, and I kind of just waded my way through the murk."
