Really appreciate Tolkien's use of song and poetry in this. Every character seems to care about art and eloquence in a way that is lacking in the real world. It's fun.

giving up on the spoiler tags because they just straight up do not work on progress updates which is cringe imo.

I really enjoy the dynamic between Violet/Tairn and Violet/Andarna, this feels like the meat & potatoes of what the author wanted to write. It's a fun rapport.

I'm so betting Dain betrays the country in the third act, because why else does this dude want Violet out of the line of duty soooo bad. his ass knows something bad is going to happen to the riders. looking forward to this fight between violet and xaden. getting enemies to lovers vibes fr fr</spoiler>

I think it's really interesting how the playing field gets leveled. Or at least, the narrative method by which Violet will survive this. Also Dain is reading so incredibly hard as third act betrayal. No mans gets this much praise and golden retriever energy to be played as an actual good guy I swear

Noticing a lot of adjectives here and I don't know if that's just my writer brain activating or a feature of first person writing

Honestly the pov character violet reciting information to diagetically info dump to the reader is pretty smart narrative device
