Reading/Listening to on long runs, expect a four or five star. Very encouraging as I’m wrestling with work dynamics!

My boss gave me this book. I read it when I want to do work but not really. It’s bad, horrendous, and pretentiously depressing. It might get 2 stars though 👀

One of the most interesting things about Marx, Frued, Nietzche and others is that I will find myself following along with their argument and will be suddenly struck by an sudden left turn caused by a totally different paradigm. Fundamentally, their unbelief is incompatible to come to mutual conclusions.

Somehow audio books make it easier for me to digest academic work. Perhaps I don’t get bogged down. Perhaps listening is becoming a more refined skill, which is doubtful I fear. Perhaps it keeps my brain focused on the visual world at hand so that I do not seek to conceptualize every concept. Valuable for academia, I fear not so for a book like Narnia

I have a lot of podcast time right now, and I’m running to the end of them. So I guess I’m an audiobook guy now? Where does that leave me? Am in danger of becoming illiterate? Well according to Andrew Wilson, the fact that literacy is an expectation is a western concept born out of the weirdness of 1776! Or something like that. Is he Old Earth? Idk but good balance of scholarly and good British writing so far.

Makes a distinction between Therapeutic Gospel and Biblical Gospel, good. Our culture does have too much emphasis on self-acceptance. However, he disregards the human need for acceptance, in lieu of a holiness-centered gospel. I deny self-acceptance as the answer. However, is the void in our heart to be filled not filled with the Lordship? A king and his people? Does not fully set apart mean unity in Christ? Eee

Chugging along. Should have brought more reading material. Makes some mildly confusing distinctions on God’s regeneration, and then personal will to discipleship without necessary effort to help us think about and maintain the tension introduced.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything 9marks publishes, but man it’s hard to read and keep reading. They need to resurrect CS and have him write for them

Loving this book. It’s great for someone like me who can’t just do things. I have to believe in them and be passionate about it. Clearly and concisely explains the heart behind Christian productivity, and write approach-ably to the Christian who isn’t very organized (me). Will be 5 stars

Very nice! Not cutting corners on what a whole Biblical theology on Evangelism looks like. Am curious if the practice of the matter comes more in play later in the book.

Any good book recommendations on time management/productivity/organization. Preferably high on the practicality and less on the theory. Thanks!

Easy reading, but idk I feel like it’s lacking a real oomph type plot

Also maybe it’s because I’ve read Tolkien recently(and Andrew Peterson last year), but Collins is decidedly bad at the whole insert poetry/songs in the story. They’re just not good. Be like Lewis, acknowledge your not good and don’t put them in the story. Ok now I’m just yapping
