'In short, everyone is racist, everything is racist, you’re a racist even if you’re not racist, because of racism. Or something. You can’t escape. You’re guilty of something, nebulously defined, that you can’t help but commit because the “system” in which you live is built on it. Similar theories can be found to explain gender, sexual orientation, class, religion (not Christianity), age, etc.'

'“When I was a kid I used to walk past people's homes and think about how somebody built it for five grand and paid it off. Then somebody else bought it and paid every month for thirty years to pay off the forty grand it cost them. Then they sold it and the next guy paid four hundred grand for the same damn house. Now the worst part is that people like it that way. They think it's an investment.'

'Central planned economies do a better job of providing security and necessities. Open markets are fine for luxuries. We need to build a firewall between luxuries and necessities because they don't mix. Look at our health care system. Profit has no business having anything to do with health care. No money? Doc says you gonna die. And education...shit. Don't get me started on education.”'

When I was an undergraduate there was a story about a fraternity that graduated a pig.” They laughed. “The guys took turns attending this class or that for the pig...until it had enough credits to graduate. And then it got an English degree at commencement. Read it's name off in front of everybody. They attended classes for somebody named Earnest Bacon or something. I saw a picture of them holding up t

'It is war. Only a fool and a weakling would ask for it to be otherwise. The one fundamental reason the Hard Right movement in this country has perennially gone nowhere is because it has NEVER fully comprehended this one fun-damental reality and has never been set upon the proper course.'

'“Thanks,” he said, declining the card, “I guess I can take the risk.” After the little Hausfrau had departed with her precious quart of whole milk, the customers in the shop, the Nazis, and the non-Nazis — stared at each other coldly, each group daring the other to say something.'

'“They brought him home with both his hands gone. Blown right off, they told me.” The little Hausfrau took out her handkerchief. “I can’t stand it,” she said. “He can’t eat anything, and you sell me skimmed milk.” “For the love of God,” our Commercial Attaché told the shopkeeper. “Take my ration card and give this woman all the whole milk she wants.” The shopkeeper was a man, too.'

'The troll set off walking down the road. He met a young boy. He asked him, “Are you a man?” The boy replied, “I’m not a man, just the start of one.” The troll passed the boy by and continued down the road. Now an old man came along and the troll asked him, “So you’re a man, aren’t you?” The old man replied, “I’m not a man. I’ve been a man, but I’m not one any more.”'

'Walking in the forest one day, a troll came across a bear, who was digging a winter den for himself. The troll asked the bear, “What are you doing?” The bear said, “Escaping from man.” The troll replied, “I don’t expectto find any man I need be afraid of.” The bear said, “You have to fear man because he has weapons. Take a walk down the main road and you’ll find a man to fear.”

'The reason Americans do not understand this war is because it has been fought in secret —in the schools of our nation, targeting our children. The wagers of this war are using very sophisticated and effective tools: • Hegelian Dialectic [common ground, consensus and compromise) • Gradualism [two steps forward; one step backward) • Semantic deception [redefining terms to get agreement without understanding.'

'We arrive at his Fifth Avenue apartment and present him with the mangosteens, dragon fruits, sapodillas, dukus and longans. He’s appreciative, but also a tad concerned about how we got them over the border. Mangosteens and dragon fruit, he says, are illegal in the United States.'

Actually, they aren't. Maybe it varies on a state to state basis, but I've sampled both purchased at the grocery/retail level.

'Some plants are so cunning that they developed fruits that resemble insects—in order to be eaten by that insect’s predators. The fruits of Scorpiurus subvillosa look like centipedes. Other fruits imitate worms, spiders and even horned beetles. Birds carry them off, thinking they’ve snatched a squirmalicious snack.'

'Why is it important that “science” discover why men are more interested in a particular field of study than women and not vice versa (which is a question rarely asked)? The truth is, it is not. Men and women are different. That didn’t used to be a controversial statement to make. But now saying it could land you in a reeducation gulag or get you exiled from your profession.'
