I'm still now 100% sure what this book is about, but I can't put it down.

Omg this book is NOT what I thought it was going to be. I was thinking parents dealing with grief over a lost child, and all of a sudden insane people are everywhere being violent. Then I checked out the author, and discovered that he wrote "Let the Right One In" and everything made sense.

I'm loving this book!

Was not expecting the very graphic photographs included in this book. Be warned.

Fascinating, well-written, and with just enough gossipy goodness.

She's just making things up now. "It might have been nothing serious at all, OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE WORST THING EVER IN THE WORLD. For the purposes of furthering my own POV, I'm going to go with the latter."

"By age five, Sickert had undergone three horrific surgeries for a fistula. In every Sickert biography I have read, there is no more than a brief mention of these surgeries..." THEN HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY WERE HORRIFYING?! I mean, I understand that, to people who live in 2012, the idea of having surgery in 1868 is horrifying. But let's TRY to be academically honest here, hm? Oh wait, too late for that.

YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW RESEARCH WORKS.

"I have solved the case of Jack the Ripper." Do you have a time machine? Then, no, you didn't.

No Harry Bosch or Micky Haller. Meh.

Why is this book written in the first person? Why does Harry chase Eleanor when she's obviously an awful person? These are the mysteries I really want Harry Bosch to solve.

Stirling is obsessed with ethnic heritage, to the point of distraction.

I want to grab Mike by the shoulders and shout "CALL THE POLICE YOU'RE DOING THE WRONG THING." Driving me crazy.

Read for about an hour, have already started skipping around. Just not that gripping or interesting.

As with many Stirling novels, we've reached the repetitive Clancy-esque phase, where all the men are supermanly, the women superperfect, and the readers yearn for a reasonable conclusion. I'm going to keep reading, though!

I've been reading this book since December and I am just not interested. Maybe it's time to give up.

Laura Hillenbrand could write about making toast and I'd read it. I love her writing.

An entire culture based on religious/sanctioned prostitution, how edgy.

Still on the same page. Ugh, I hate reading this book.
