My audiobook:
“I barked.
He barked.
I barked.
He barked.
I barked.
He barked.
I barked.”

My 14 year old daughter: “Good Lord! What are you millennials listening to!!???”

Ack! The opening is giving me working-preschool-mom PTSD …literally feeling the edge of a panic attack !

Unpopular opinion… I really liked M. Night Shyamalan’s The Lady in the Water. This book (which I’ve only reluctantly put down since starting yesterday) reminds me a little of that movie… a quirky bedtime fairytale with some horror elements. I’m *really* hoping the last hundred pages don’t justify the book’s mediocre ratings, and that this is just another case where I’m exactly the target audience!

I don’t think I can handle more of this… it’s a wonderfully written book with fantastic character development but it’s too horrifically, bleakly realistic for me at the moment.

My loan ran out before I was able to finish my audiobook. I’d happily finish this another time!

This might be one of those books that’s better to actually be *read* than listened to as an audiobook. I’m having trouble relating to the protagonist. Maybe worth trying again another time?

I had to return my ebook to the library before I finished! I’m definitely interested to try again when my next hold comes in!

The origin of the title just clicked for me:

For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire compares with her.
Proverbs 8:11

Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies
Proverbs 31:10

This is one I may need to come back to if I’m ever in the mood for a non-fiction audiobook.

I’m taking a break because I fell asleep listening and completely lost my place! Entertaining and informative though! :)

This is emotive proselytizing without the backing of sound science. Some of the claims are *at best* misleading (we’ve long known *much* of the frog deformation she attributes to pesticides is caused by parasites). There’s also no acknowledgement that it isn’t possible to feed our current population with historic methods. I’m disappointed that this isn’t a more balanced and nuanced approach.
