Can't get into this one. McCarthy beautiful descriptions of brutality are impressive but I can't get much more from this one. Lack of a central character with a real name might be part of it. I'm definitely missing something. That's alright. I'll finish it and put off any more from him til I'm really in the mood. Might as well be a DNF as of now but will F none the less.

Started out my journey to The Dark Tower for the second time. Finished it December 2022. Enjoying all the foretelling and set up this time. Perhaps that's why people don't generally enjoy this book. A lot comes back later and seems nonsensical sort of here. Can't wait to get to the later books. I want to say 2, 4, 4.5, and 6 were my absolute favorites. With 5 and 7 being very good. 1 and 3 ok. We'll see 1 good so far

Great pacing in this book. Occasionally genius comments on the human condition, as King is known to do. He says his writing is the Big Mac of writing. Not a horrible metaphor, Ridiculously popular and has lasted 50+ years. But also on occasion, a specific bite of a Big Mac, normally early on in the burger is perfect. The ingredients match perfectly and your transported away. He's no Dostoevsky but he is so digestible

Powerful. Powerful stuff.

Half way through my third listen. A very good book but won't need to read again for at least a couple years.
