Imagine being emperor for only 21 days…
Ah this time period is so exciting!

After reading so many biographies of Roman emperors, you would think that I would become one at some point, right? What else do I do with all that knowledge?

I’m so disappointed , I spent more than an hour writing a review of the previous book I read. And the review is gone! Simply vanished :(

Holy moly we are entering December and I’m still not done with my reading goal

I promised Patrizia that I would read this book this year. And I AM A MAN OF MY WORD!!

Reading about the liberation of Kherson again, what a time that was. Great at first, but then came the terrible discovery of the many Russian atrocities committed there

With all the terrible things that I have read so far, I can’t help but laugh at Russian troops digging trenches in the radioactive grounds of Chernobyl haha

Very good book so far!

It’s so infuriating to read about the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, where Ukraine was made to give up its nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees from the US, Russia and other countries.
These countries would “respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine” and “refrain from the threat or use of force” against Ukraine. See how that turned out!

I don’t usually like to read books on things that are ongoing, but I feel that this book is different. The war in Ukraine is very important to me and I just want to be more informed about it

I always love seeing someone named ‘Faustus’ in one of my books, every time I do, I feel like we have a brotherly connection that transcends the ages :)

I bet he was the best governor Moesia Inferior had ever seen🥹

I have to admit that reading about battles is way more fun than reading about the Roman tax system haha

Imagine becoming emperor at 14! At that age I couldn’t get a good mathematics grade for the life of me. Let alone holding speeches in the Senate or in front of the Praetorian Guard

I love the Penguin Clothbound Classics, they are so pretty :)

I have bought 4 books in the last week, I really have no discipline. At least my collection of biographies of Roman emperors is growing

Finally finished the preface, I really don’t like it when the preface is longer than 50 pages. It doesn’t add to the page count on good reads >:(

Holy moly, Commodus was such a terrible emperor! It angers me! Anyway, had a great reading session in Maastricht today and I can’t wait to finish this book :)

Really enjoyed reading about Roman pagans criticising early Christianity haha, but I don’t understand why almost two chapters were dedicated to this in a biography

Reading this book again for the first time in 5 months, I want it out of my ‘currently reading’ list!

Spent more than three hours in the train today and I barely read because I was so exhausted :(

First day in Leiden tomorrow and I have to wake up at like 05:30 😔

I have to admit that I quite liked the previous couple of chapters. I mean I’m always down for a war with the Parthians. Also, I found out that there was a city called ‘Faustinopolis’, very cool😎

This book is great! The history if every Roman legion, it doesn’t get much better than this :)
