My reading progress has been paralyzed by the end of the school year. But wow this is good.

I am in the section about Africa right now, and I am shook. I knew the maps didn't show the correct size for Africa, but I didn't realize that Africa is "fourteen times the size of Greenland," which BLOWS my mind because they seem a similar size on a map (Marshall 117).

I was super disappointed that I didn't have a chance to read much over Spring Break but returning to this book felt great. I am pretty sure that I am getting to the climax. I. Am. Pumped.

I've been wondering where this book is going, but the end of chapter 2 gave me a hint. Bitter, the main character, just met a new person to the school named Aloe. She's wondering why the "protest" group didn't take him and instead wanted him at the school. There's a lot of mystery surrounding this group, so I am sure that's where the book is going!

I have really come around on this book. The topic is something I really hate reading or thinking about. But, he is a storyteller who knows how to write a book about money for people who don't want to read about money.

I am only one chapter in so far but I am really enjoying the teacher at Bitter's school, Miss Virtue. She's described as "someone who believed [the students] were worth burning the world down for" (Emezi 6). Although it's weird to think of valuing something enough to cause destruction, I do get it. In this world, there are protests every night. Things must be bad enough that burning it down is necessary.

While I can't say that I LOVE this book, the author tells a lot of stories. It's about as engaging as a book could be about finances.

In today’s reading, I noticed a big shift in the narrator. Before she had her son, she hated motherhood (even though she didn't want to admit it). But somehow, her love of her son has completely changed her...or at least it seems so.

I've always known children are terrifying. But holy moly...

Reading this book feels like taking medicine. No amount of flavoring can cover up the fact that this damn book is just "good" for you.

So good. But I can only do a few pages at a time. It's HEAVY.

The only reason I am reading this is that my oldest is asking me questions like, "How do I save for retirement?" and "Should I have a will?" and I don't know how to answer those questions.

Omg. This death scene was absolutely horrific. I am traumatized.
