It’s been a while. I’m 75% in and I’m still not a fan of the writing style, but it’s actually getting pretty good.

I’m not actually a fan of Palahniuk’s writing in this book, but at the same time, each scene is pretty short so it’s very easy to get through. I got to 49% in just an hour.

I hate Sarah Morgan, but Adam Morgan is probably the stupidest character I’ve ever come across.

If I had to take a shot everytime I read, “to what do I owe the pleasure?” I’d be drunk right now.

#1 If I read, “to what do I owe the pleasure” one more time, I’m gonna go nuts.

#2 Why do they keep saying “the case is closed.” How is it closed?! The trial is in two weeks, there are still new evidences popping up, and there are still new witnesses being interviewed. This is really getting on my nerves.

The last few chapters were ridiculously awful.

Things are starting to get a bit more exciting, but man… here’s to hoping that this will pay off.

What the heck just happened? Either we’ve got the stupidest characters or this book is just hilariously unrealistic HAHAHA oh my goodness.

I’m honestly not loving this book so far. The pacing is great, yeah, but the pacing between the characters’ relationships is too fast for my liking. And the more I read Sarah’s POV, the less I like her.

Why is the sheriff playing nurse with her? He doesn’t have better things to do? They don’t have staff dedicated to medical stuff? Oh my god I hate everyone in this book.

#2 “there’s a tenderness there. He cares that I’m hurt.” CRINGEEEEEE

Um, all sorts of ridiculous stuff have been happening so far. It’s a fun, easy read though. Let’s see where it goes.

I’m less than 5 minutes into this book and I’ve already seen a couple of grammatical errors. I mean, I’m not perfect, but I kinda expected more from a published book, you know?

Just finished chapter 1. So far, I don't get the hate this book gets. Will do one chapter after every assignment I finish.

You know what, I’m actually having a lot of fun. It’s been pretty great so far.

The 20th anniversary introduction took up like 3% of the book, haha. Oh well, it was a fun read. A writer’s life isn’t easy, huh.

I’ve been wanting to read this book for like 15 years now. Finally starting it! And mannn, my Kindle says 16 hours left in the book. Good luck to me, man.

And I’m done! It’s a pretty good read, overall.

She Who Laughs Lost. Oh wow, this one’s good. Love how it ended!

And I’m back. This one, Gulls, is a bit meh.

The Halloween story is a little weird and even confusing. Feels unnecessarily drawn-out. The ending isn’t that much better.

It’s late so I’ll nap/sleep first, but I’ll finish this when I wake up.

Okay, each story seems awfully short. Delightful.

I just got this from NetGalley. That first story… what in the world did I just read lmao.

It’s amazing how I got to 71% when I barely care about the characters OR the story.

That said, I care a bit about the Davies company. The story there is clearer and feels a bit more concrete.

The present-day story is a lot less clear and a lot less interesting. I really, really don’t care what happens to this group.

Pausing at Chapter 7. So far I would say it’s decent. Still hasn’t hooked me in, but it’s not insufferable. I’m guessing the Corrigal is a supernatural monster of sorts. The whole vibe really reminds me of Annihilation, though.

“They were all concern, piling their bags to one side,” feels like a typo.

I’m 30 minutes in and I’m not really feeling it yet. Let’s see.

This is a long overdue read. Got the copy from NetGalley a year ago and still haven’t opened it. So far… it’s okay. It feels a bit like Annihilation, with 5 female main characters entering a place where all-men crews have died in the past.

I’m not sure why I stopped reading this book last summer because it’s actually pretty good? I like it so far.

Ben BOOKMAN is the name of the main guy who’s also a best-selling author? Can’t decide if this is clever or lazy. 😂
