YAAAAAAS MYFANWY YAAAAAAS. This chick is such a fucking badass!!!

So this is much slower than the first book so far. Also, I have noticed something and it is actually really irritating me: all the female characters seem to exists to serve one or a combination of three functions: they're there to be saved by Evan, they're there to show Evan is a red blooded human man (I assume) and sleep with him, or they're there to kill him. PLEASE learn to write better women before the next book!

Ok so I can suspend disbelief, but the one thing I can't believe is that he assigned his aloe vera plant a gender and gave it a name.

WTF EVAN. CAN YOU PLEASE NOT MAKE DECISIONS BASED ON WHAT YOUR DICK WANTS.

Also what is with these female characters. They're all women who all have flawless skin or thick luscious hair and pretty much all of them want to bang Evan. For a boring importer/vigilante assassin who makes it his business to be unnoticeable, a lot of people sure are taking notice of him...

Ok that dedication is fucking insane, buuut it includes references to badass female characters and the chapter starts with a quote from Luther so I am cautiously optimistic.

Marisha Pessl is giving me the impression that both she and Blue are way too smart for their own good. Also, the first fifth of this book has been a bit of a slog.

Ok listening to this as an audiobook... The narrator sounds like an emo Peter Parker. Also, several accents have appeared so far, not all of them amazing. Also also it starts with the sort of music I imagine would play at a renaissance faire. Looking up so far :/

SO MUCH EXPOSITION! I'm enjoying it but jeez, a LOT of exposition. I'm surprised at how much has not actually happened in this book, and I'm about halfway through. Also Wade can be such a whiner! On the plus side I thought Art3mis was just a Molly Ringwald manic pixie dreamgirl, and now I realise she's really the only one with her head in the game. She's still like 95% MPDG, but that can't be helped...

Can I just say, I'm worried that he mentioned so early that with little to no gravity on Mars, the family has to pull the legs of whoever gets hanged. Like, who is this going to apply to now?! I'm looking at everyone as though they have a target on their forehead (and I'm looking very hard at you, Eo D:)
