Ok so the beginning (up to this point) is a little slow - I always feel like Yarvi has no control up to this point... and then shit goes down from this point on and it starts getting reeaaaaal good!

Actually getting pretty good, although I feel like I'd like it more if it was more Natasha-Romanoff centric and less focussed on Ava and Alex.

It seems extremely convenient that at the moment Ava needs to escape, it's suddenly revealed that she's had all this SHIELD stuff in her possession that will help her do just that. Also why didn't she use it earlier, instead of living the way she has?

"I'm getting pretty tired of unicorns. Could we try to get a regular horse around here for once?" Preach, Natasha. Preach.

Yaaaassss Tony Stark!

Not as much Black Widow so far as I'd like, especially seeing as the book is called "Black Widow: Forever Red". Also INSTA-LOVE WHY MUST YOU PLAGUE ME SO?!

... and the world feels a little empty. Things are happening, the plot seems to be moving forward, and yet I haven't got a feeling for the actual world. There's a lot of little snippets being thrown around but nothing that suggests to me cohesive world-building.

... and it's a little boring? I don't know. I want to blame the foot. I like Cinder and she seems pretty plucky. We'll see.

... and I'm 99.999999% certain I know where this is going already.

DAMN, ELIZABETH! Firstly, I can't believe how much I have forgotten happens in these books - the BBC series is good, but I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH STUFF I HAVE FORGOTTEN, AND I'M ONLY HALF-WAY THROUGH. Secondly, Lady Catherine is a cow. Thirdly, DAAAAMN, LIZZIE. DAMN. Also Lady Catherine is way worse than the worst of your relatives, Lizzie, don't worry.

Pretty interesting so far! It's sword-and-sorcery but extremely light on the sorcery front.

Chapter 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't usually give up on books but this one is making it hard for me to want to continue. So far I don't care about Paige, I don't care about any of the other Voyants, or the Rephaim, or Warden, or any other character and their problems. Instead of transporting me to another place, this book is making me think of all the OTHER books I could be reading, which is not how I want to feel nearly halfway through.

Re-reading this to mark the release of The Witcher 3 and it's just as good and fun as I remember!
