This dialogue. It is unreadably terrible. Other than that, I guess I'm just waiting for the plot to start. People have said the plot is pretty terrible, but I don't see much to go on yet.

I have a sinking feeling I'm gonna regret this, although it's not that bad so far. I mean, the dialogue is pretty bad, but the prose is alright.

Going Old School in the Age of Obama - This one absolutely sucked. I see what the author was going for, but...eugh.
Anasazi Breakdown - Not too bad, although I feel like the author could've taken the premise further.
The Coffin Deliveries - Mediocre and forgettable.
Where Wolves Never Wander - I wish the author had taken the premise further; there's a lot of unexplored potential here.

Perpetual Pest and Ghost Dog are remarkably similar - they would both be three stars, due to general cheesiness and an overabundance of cliches, except for the excellent twists at the end, which push them up to four stars.

That came together quite nicely, in contrast to Born Blue, which was a scattered mess.

That was not at all where I was expecting this to go. And it's much better for it.

The supernatural elements here are kinda bizarre.

This feels like a rehash of the last two books. Once again, Rafe is breaking rules, dealing with bullies, doing bad in school, and failing to make friends. It's tiresome by now.

What am I doing with my life?

Another one with weird familial relationships. I'm sensing this as a pattern in Han Nolan's books.

Immediately after finishing one Han Nolan book, I go to another, probably in some desperate search to find a book as good as Crazy.

Is Leshaya ever going to get better? Like, is she going to stop living self-destructively and irresponsibly? Because it's getting a little tiresome.

So trying to get famous sucks. Also, it's too bad Harmon's family didn't want her anymore. That made me sad.

This is kind of sad to read. Leshaya's lack of social skill really comes through, and it's a little painful to watch.

This would be really good if there was anything here that wouldn't work perfectly fine either as a summary or as a flashback. I want the story to start.

That was really good, if again, not at all what I expected.

I don't like books that open with 50 pages of the main character's backstory. Just a note to any authors that might be in the audience.

I didn't notice it until it was pointed out, but ever since it was, it's been so obvious that I can't get away from it. Houlden is really obsessed with holding on to his childhood.

I'm reading very slowly, which I deeply regret. But I will make progress.

I'm not sure if agree that deep down, we all have Houlden Caufield inside of us, but there are certainly aspects of him that I identify with. Particularly, there's this sense of longing he feels for something better - better surroundings, better people. It's hard to describe. But the feeling is familiar.

Does this book have a plot?

Here's the moment of truth: we get to find out when you insert a page number higher than the length of the novel. (Probably nothing, but I'm still excited.)

I think this is the first time I've seen an author make his writing intentionally terrible for the sake of a voice. I mean, I've seen Patrick Ness intentionally misspell things and stuff, but I've never seen an author intentionally make their writing repetitive and badly flowed.

My edition is actually about 80 pages longer than GoodReads' edition, so I still have quite a bit farther to go. (Which is unfortunate, because it was due to the library yesterday.)

When Joey told me I'd like the ending, I think this is what she meant. Holy shit, that was unexpected.

The writing is a little repetitive, to be honest. But it also looks like it's going to be good - I certainly hope so.

NaNoWriMo has commenced. I'm mourning my sanity. But anyway, I would already be super-busy without a 50,000 word novel to worry about, so don't anticipate any reviews at all from me for the next month. Good luck to anyone else participating!

This is probably the best of the series. The plotting is just so strong, and the character development is excellent.
