I was given this one to review directly by the author, which I'm always a bit nervous about, but we'll see. The premise looks good, at least.

I'm sorta getting bored of this, much as I liked it at first. Something needs to happen soon - the pacing isn't exactly great.

Applegate: Alright, this time, we're going to have someone who gets his skin peeled off while his father is forced to watch him.
Scholastic: Why do we let you get away with this?
Applegate: Because Animorphs put your kids through college?
Scholastic: Oh, yeah. That's right.

I'm waiting for the message about woman's rights. Buck is a die-hard feminist, so I assume we'll get such a thing, but it sure is taking a while.

And now I'm waiting for something to happen. It's still good, it's just slow.

Drama! Suspense! Nanotechnology! This is a really good action sequence, I must say.

This is so... everything. It's so good, I don't even know what to say about it.

Nanotechnology is fucking awesome. I'm not normally prone to enjoying something because it's cool, but goddamn, this is the exception.

This book is absolutely *takes off sunglasses* berserk.

We're halfway through the book, and I feel like Buck is just now beginning to get to the point. Bleah.

I knew, not five minutes in, that I would absolutely adore this book. It hasn't disappointed yet.

I've mentioned before that anyone can win me over by making a clever Animorphs reference. Apparently, that includes one of its authors.

My very first Manga! And... I have mixed feelings. The artwork isn't that great, and the plot is hard to follow, but I at least like the characters.

This book makes my eyes hurt. Ick.

PROSE! God, Grant is such a great writer. This is so well-written.

I am genuinely surprised by how good this is, almost as surprised as I was by the first one. WHAT IS HAPPENING? THE BALANCE OF THE UNIVERSE HAS BEEN DISRUPTED!

More redundancy in the writing. Why the hell is this a classic?

I expected this to suck, but actually, it's not that bad. This series surprises me once again.

I gotta say, I liked the first half of the book a lot better. This part isn't resonating with me as strongly.

This is giving me a strange nostalgia for the contemporary books my sister used to read, which I never even read myself. I guess something about the tone reminds me of how the summaries to those books were written. Strange. But it's good, nonetheless.

Another big problem? Nobody is characterized at all except Wang Lung, and he's a big Gary Stu. (He's never just Wang or just Lung, by the way, always Wang Lung.) For an assignment involving this book, I had to describe O-lan's characterization, and I thought, "There's no way I can do this."

This is ridiculously well-written. I don't know what it is, but something about the writing just makes me want to gush.
