I have just gotten past the archery contest part of the story.

Several reviews have stated it picks up from this point forward.

I hope to hell that it does, because this is literally the most boring Robin Hood story *ever*.

The only reason I haven't dropped it for something else is that I, sadly, haven't been able to pick up my books from the library yet... and won't be able to until tomorrow. Ugh.

What in the actual fuck?

2) Really?! Alternate timeline Cedric... really?!

62% in and I feel like we're just now finally getting past the set-up (/ character development) and into the story.

I've been promised it picked up from here... but I feel like this thing could be, like, 50 pages shorter already...

43% in and Bill Hodges has finally made an appearance. Luckily I was warned about "Sir Not Appearing in This Book" earlier. ;)

I'm calling it quits at 11%

I'm at that part of the book where I *really* want to see what happens, but stupid life keeps getting in the way! Augh!

It's not really grabbing me, and I feel like I'm missing the humor I've heard a lot of people mention.

I think we may be finally getting to the meat of the story.

The stuff with the Sleeping Sickness is interesting, but I honestly don't care about the relationship drama...

One of the interesting things about this book is the ambiguity of the bad guys. As various entities seem to use or befriend Alice, you're not sure what their agendas or intentions truly are...

Aside from that, though, I'm still finding this something of a slog.

Ok so far. Pretty standard stuff, and I'm not exactly absorbed... but I'm not writing it off yet, either.

One of the bad things about doing a Discworld marathon in order is you can't skip the ones you didn't like very much the first go around...

I also never realized how similar these early Discworld books are to each other. With the exception of Mort, they're all about wizardry and one wizard or magical being being way more powerful than the others & changing things (except not really in the long term)...

So we just got to the part where the party discovers they have to go to a place the reader knew they'd end up going around, oh, page 5...

Things are finally starting to get moving...

After dealing with Constantine-lite from JLD, it's been refreshing to come back to something more true to form... even if it's just black & white art.
