The descent.

Interesting enough, but reads more like a family drama with ghosts...

So the two pieces finally converge... and now there's nearly 100 more pages of... stuff?

Not really all that into the story yet. Hope it starts coming together/picking up soon.

Starting to pick up, but I'm just not feeling this one. Hope to finish tonight, but I haven't been reading it at night all that much.

Just can't get into this. Back to pause it goes.

*Finally* starting to pick up, in the last 1/5 of the book. Can't say I'm really all that invested in the mystery at all, though.

Picking this up again after a several month hiatus

I'm liking this even more than the first book so far - though I find Emily's conversation with the Queen more than a bit unlikely.

I'm a little more involved in the story after a shaky start, but I'm still not really in love with the characters or the jumping PoV.

I'm enjoying spending some time with Yelena and Valek again. I'm finding myself wishing I could read faster.

While I appreciate the reference to Dupin, the man's name is Edgar Allan Poe, not Allen. It's unacceptable to misspell his name in a book which is a sort of homage to the man!

Points for one of the more melodramatic confrontations I've read in recent history. Oh dear gods, the drama...

(Whether those are points added or subtracted, I haven't quite decided. I imagine this is what watching soaps are like. It's fun, in a mindless sort of way... but also kind of painful.)

So, Clary's pretty damn slow on the uptake about pretty much everything. The others aren't much better...

Sometimes I have to remind myself that characters in books don't know they're characters in books and thus can't be entirely blamed for lack of genre savviness.

That said - was anyone actually remotely surprised at the "reveal" about Clary's dad? Womp, womp.

Also - I'm fairly certain drawing runes on yourself to give yourself powers IS magic.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

One of the stories about this book is that when the publisher/editor read this first draft, he told Lee to focus on the parts with Scout as a young girl, because that was where her story was... That publitor was *so* right. Some other parts feel like they're written by someone else entirely - and based on what I’ve heard, I'm wondering if that's not true. Because, damn, some parts are downright incoherent!

Finally got to the parts, this morning, referenced in all the major reviews. Up to this point there was a lot of the 'small town ramblings' portions - or, as I recall, the boring parts - of Mockinbird.

Bit of a slow start, but I'm loving the gargoyle.

I'm fairly digging the story, but there's something keeping me from loving it. Can't put my finger on it, though.

So I'm after the part where the movie ends. Bastion is pretty damn unlikable. I hope something happens soon.

So they certainly changed how Atreyu looks for the movie...

Goodreads' lack of half-stars is the bane of my rating existence!

This is really cute and I'm enjoying it. Quick, light read - nice change of pace from the more ponderous 'Night Garden', which I liked, but this is like a little palate cleanser.
