Loving this book. Really good YA that is pacey, inventive and above all interesting. Got the next two ready from the library so I think this is a series that I'll crack on with. Reminds me of Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy. Loved them too

Read this year's ago and remember loving it. Don't think I read anymore of the series though. I think I'll remedy that this year.

Book still moving like a high speed train. Russian contact gone which of the three snipers did it or are all three involved?

Very homoerotic last chapter. Poor Victor at least we know what happened to him growing up. He had no life at all

Who is Victor Cracke still don't know? I get feeling Ethan's dad or helper Tony know more than they are letting on

Can't stop reading this. Really enjoying it. Sad to see the ill retired policeman McGrath go. Still Ethan managed to have his way with his daughter in her old camp bed at the wake. How's that for originality?!

Battle on the bridge - 4 mins of craziness after 7 hours of waiting. Good point about life in general

Forgot that Wilbur Smith really isn't afraid to shy away from describing heinous acts of War pretty graphically. Children being killed, queues of men waiting to rape women before leaving their dead bodies piled in a corner of a room whilst they slept afterwards and not forgetting cannibal tribesmen. Not a book for the feint hearted but nonetheless a gripping read

Love Wilbur Smith's books. Haven't read any for years. Time to tuck into my box set my wife bought me probably over half a decade ago!

Have really found Canavan's book unbelievably slow going. Even now, near the end, I feel as though barely anything has happened.
Characters, descriptions, events and places all feel so superficial and basic. For YA her books aren't bad they are very good but for someone who likes meat on the bones and detail to their story telling her style really isn't for me I think. Probably my last Canavan book
