I met the author at NorWesCon this year. I have seen these books a few times and after reading the Kindle excerpt, figured they would be "meh" at best. I rarely read GameLit or whatever else you want to call it unless the story is good enough. I decided to try this book, holding my nose while I started reading past the excerpt. Once the cat starts talking this book gets much better.

I admit that 15 year old me liked these books much better than the current me. I am not sure if this is because of maturity or just changes in my reading habits. My uncle in the mid-1980s gave me the first 8 books in this series in paperback and I have read nearly all of the books by now.
