I read this series quite a while ago and forgot how much I liked it.

So I am in the conflict stage of the story arc. Still a very good story, despite it being a romance.

So this is a good book. If my wife hadn't recommended it, I would have turned my nose up at, and if I did read would have been holding my nose expecting a real stinking turkey. Very different than any other romance I have read.

The description suggested this book was a combination of Howell's Moving Castle meets modern romance. Now I am picturing all the characters and the setting as the best of Japanese anime.

This has been fairly good high fantasy, in the same style as Tolkien, Eddings, etc. The the sword style of the assassins reminds me a lot of Drizzt Do'Urden from the old D&D Forgotten Realms setting.

I am changing my reading up a bit. Read some classic SciFi from Norton and now some high fantasy from an author new to me.

I don't believe this author writes anymore, which is a shame as I liked some of what he wrote.
