This is a surprisingly good paranormal lesbian urban fantasy. Unlike a lot of hetero males, I do not find lesbianism particularly erotic. Some of the sex scenes are erotic, but not drifting into word porn or stroke material IMHO. Might check out some of the author's other books.

A good read, but not an author that I am going to read another of his books.

This is a decent book and is well written, but I do not think I am going to read another by this author.

Reading a book written by another author after the original died is a crapshoot. Like most after authors, Winslow writes well enough and close to the original. Definitely readable. In the same tropes as John le Carré, Robert Ludlum and Lustbader this is a good early Cold War thriller. Wondering if the new author might write more in this series.

The first book was so good, decided to grab the second. Interesting I had heard that lesbian vampire and werewolf stories are a hot market, but had never read one (not counting Ann Rice) until now.

Well, I did not expect to like this first book - so far. I just hope this does not turn out like the Anita Blake books which devolved into more about her bedroom three ring circus that about Anita solving preternatural crimes. But can't argue with success as Hamilton is quite successful.

Scary how many similarities between the MC in this book and myself. I too answered Any Soldier mail when I was in Iraq and Afghanistan. My unit always enjoyed the letters especially from grade school age kids.

I have not read anything from this author in quite a while. I like his writing not enough to buy, but certainly check out from my local library.
