The real romance has been Nesta and Cassian the entire time. Credit where credit is due though, these books do get better as they go. That being said, I have no clue why this needed to be so long?

One of the funniest parts of reading these is how uninterested I get about the plot. Like I barely pay attention at this point, as I'm too scared by all the sex scenes and the way people use "male" and "female" all the time. I would think maybe Maas is making the claim that "man" indicates a human man, and as Rhys is Fae, he's not a man, but that would be transing gender in a way I don't think she's doing.

It's funny that these books think they're read for the plot. Nesta is a bitch and she's still my bitch. Like I don't even know yet what she tore out of that Cauldron by go. off. Queen.

The sex scenes are still a form of torture to read. It also makes me really worried for straight women. Like Rhysand isn't even that much of a feminist he's just a decent human? Is that all straight women have to look forward to??

Welp, I thought perhaps I might need to be tested for ADD, just casually, you know? But also this book's criteria is really dragging me.

You know, I take it back. Casting aside that this was the book that started the wretched dystopian YA era, this still hits. I can't imagine my feelings on the rest of the books in the series will change with a re-read either, but that's for future Alex to roast.
