Started reading in bed this whilst leaving my phone outside while I sleep. Its got a few spelling and grammatical errors, is a combination of academic, personal polemic. And biased towards the Dalai Lama and non-sectarian. Its a good critique but also polemical towards NKT which I have no sympathy for anyway. Its an odd book. Could have done with an editor.

Estrogen Replacement Therapy for Perimenopausal women sounds amazing. The book lists all the benefits. Reduction of the risk of alzheimers, reduction of cognitive decline, anti-inflammatory effects in the autonomic nervous system

finished chapter on acetylcholine, dopamine, serotonin and GABA. Now on to the hormones

Norepenephrine, Cortisol and Serotonin. Very interesting. I just find the whole "functional medicine" very dubious.

Brain inflammation, heavy metal chelation, catechin, curcumin. Blablabla. Interesting stuff

Finished leaky gut and gluten chapters. The hook is extremely repetitive, and it recommends caffeine enemas. Weird.

Every one of these health books go on about gluten. I am intrigued by the science of gluten intolerance, but not the hype in going gluten free

This book feels borderline alternative medicine. And too many positive case studies it feels lacking in negative case studies

Not as good as 'Brain Food', but still interesting.

I'm actually shocked. In this book, we can and have been creating germ-free mice, and then introducing bacteria strains into their gut which colonise their gut in a way that would never be possible naturally. Imagine, designing human digestion to be able to consume wood, simply with bacteria introduce into germ-free humans. That would be weird, science fiction and dystopian. But fascinating.
