Compassion always permeates Anne's stories, no matter whom the people and when the eras. This is why they always engage me and her mysteries are well, believably crafted too.

Here I am, enjoying a well loved Canadian authoress whom I did not know at the time these 'paranormal mysteries', my favourite genre, were written.

An unusual one in my single book experience from Zilpha Keatly Snyder, very different from "The Truth About Stone Hollow". Even though "The Egypt Game" from 1967 is 7 years older, I like it much better. It is far more modern ironically, I guess because it is in a city instead of a country town with grammatically incorrect speech and Zilpha's cumbersome spelling alteration to match it. I love modern mystery quests!

I heard about this Betty Ren Wright novel for years, not among the many I had picked-up before. It sure is a mature, suspenseful 'paranormal mystery', with the pleasures of a new best friend and visiting Aunt to lighten difficult things.

This story of cave searching with friends and their dog is excellent.

I am already enjoying this story far more thorougly than the ones by Ruth Chew "The Witch At The Window" and Kathy Kennedy Tapp "The Ghostmobile" that I read the day before. Focus on the adventures and mysteries, skip or skirt by stereotypical kid or family conflict details and you enthrall everyone of every age. The setting is 1954 Arkansas, published in 1990. I would have loved a cave story as a youth that year.

I have long been ready for this book to be over. I love the subject and background and enjoyed the first novel far better. This one is dragging by being too chatty, slangly, and superfluous.
