Pericles, the Athenian is such a great orator. Whatever he said 2,500 years ago is still very much relevant today. He quips, "we cultivate refinement without extravagance and knowledge without effeminacy; wealth we employ more for use than for show".

The Athenian way of life is what led it to rule the Greek world. A more practical and useful way of life.

The Peloponnesians invade Attica but Athens would not meet them in the field for battle. Instead, Athens forms an alliance with Sitalcles to invade Thracian towns near Peloponnese.

Two states, Corinthians and Corcyra go to war over the Epidamnus. All seek to be enjoined to Athens in War and made to petition their case in the Athenian court. Corcyra wins the petition and a naval battle ensues between a collision of Athens and Corcyra against Corinthia.
