Soooooo boooooring.

Writing is extremely clunky.

Soooo mannnnyyyy deeettaaaiilllllsssss.

Really struggling on immersion with this one.

Feels magical but superficially so.

Interesting and well written but slow going and hasn’t engaged me yet.

I’m betting this was a springboard for Caraval.

The writing is tremendously better than Violet Made of Thorns already.

Reading bc read Caraval.

I need this book to end. It is so miserable.

So bad

Lots of talk of periods and contraceptives.

The fate in her head whispering little star is reminiscent of Jacks but doesn’t have the same effect.

Then she runs away and back to her tower and loses a shoe so she’s the peasant Cinderella for now.

Violet goes to the ball and the prince seeks her out until he realizes it’s her. He doesn’t like who she pretends to be or what his dad made her be. Their fights are dumb. I don’t care about either. He meets his “true love” but his sister recognizes she’s bewitching him and throws liquid on her to melt her glamour.

Detest “Princey.”

Dull and poorly written. I think the prince loves her and it’s why he doesn’t pick a wife.

Poorly written. Seer is too mouthy as usual. Constantly describing how he looks.

Reading bc someone recommended after Jacks and Evangeline.

Jacks might’ve used the spell to make someone your true love on Tella or himself. He leaves behind the knife he used to marry and divorce them in the mausoleum which is also when he’s infected with venom which is also the cure for that spell.

In Jacks house, Eva found the spell book “to make someone your one true love” along with coins and Donatella’s ribbon… so did Jacks use the book to try to make her his one true love and wants to go back in time to either do it earlier or to not do it at all?

Julian and Scarlet are engaged and she’s becoming the new Heir being coronated.
