It’s nonstop fighting and I remember that’s why I quit reading. Think I’ll quit again.

It’s been one year and I’m glad to have my previous notes bc I have totally forgotten the plot and don’t want to start over.

Intriguing so far. Good ghost story so far.

Orphan girl sees ghouls and is mute

Officially skimming. I hate them all. The author has a pretty way about her prose but is not my style in terms of narration and it is so superficial that I just don’t care about any of them and actively dislike all of them. Would quit and come back to it if there wasn’t always such a long wait for the book.

It’s very fluid. The main character shifts mid chapter or section without announcement and the pov still bugs me

Very wistful. Well written. Dreamy. Yet it’s all told in a fast forward past tense and I keep waiting for it to catch up and be told in the now.

Tedious

There should be a romance or something. I don’t know I find it hard to just sit and listen to this solitary character.

Craig’s least good book so far - reminds me of La Rue which I didn’t like.

40 pages left at the epilogue so I must be nearly done.

I wasn’t engaged enough to enjoy the 50 page final battle.

Ravyn was too arrogant and got himself stabbed.

110 pages left. Good story and well written but I should’ve read it back to back. I’m not into it.

How is he Taxus if the Shepherd King is Taxus?

I just kind of want it to end, at this point.

Elm and Ione’s story finding the cards reminds me of Eva and Jacks looking for the stones but I don’t really care about their “relationship” and skip most of their scenes when not relevant to the main plot. Skipping a lot.

I should’ve read these back to back (it wasn’t out at the time) because it’s convoluted enough for me not to remember all of the necessary details. I went back and re read the end of book 1 but reading them all at once would have been better.

No doubt, these girls will go on to have relationships with men who disrespected and underestimated them and who overpowered them and assaulted them both by boxing them in and ganging up on them and also putting their hands on them (and tearing ones throat to taste her blood). They attempt to kill them. And then “Tory” is a naked teen in front of them just exposing her body to avoid humiliation? Seriously??

Just wow. Instead of 1 badass shit talking female we get 2. The 2 are identical also, both in appearance and attitude and so it’s pointless. They’re thrust into a school with sexual assault run rampant and teachers that encourage it. And of course they are infatuated with these assaulters. This dominance is seen as Uber manly. As if assault = masculinity.
