I’ll refrain from a star rating since this is fanfiction and I understand that someone put a lot of time and effort into a book that I read for free.

I’m not even done yet but am skimming like crazy to try to finish slogging through this. That’s exactly what reading this feels like to me… trudging thru mud.

Took forever to feel a plot emerged but it’s not too bad right now.

Seems to be written for middle schoolers. Too much is spelled out. Not a fan of any character. Bly is annoying. Assuming Emerson wanted to be with Elise.

Well written and paced and unique/interesting, creates its own world.

Well written, mysterious, sort of a haunted house element and possibly ghost story element.

Second mark against it is the lead in says it’s finally a book for black women about vampires. Ok? I’ve read a lot of vampire books and seen a lot of vampire movies where the vampires were all different races. It isn’t close to being the first. I would think nothing if the vampires were black but having an info praising itself for that is odd and divisive like so much crap is nowadays.

First mark against it is These Violent Delights is listed on the cover and was one of the worst books I ever read.

Emilia is insufferable

Fast reads. Not bad. Not fabulous. Emilia is (as usual) not someone the princes of hell would be fighting over.

Much easier to read than the other crap I’ve been sampling.

Skipping ahead to the actual ballet bc the constant talking about how she wants to audition and so forth is bland.

Extremely tedious. Wordy and indulgent and extremely dull. Of course her brother is a homosexual whose boyfriend is married to a woman bc who cares about her? There is always an agenda to push nowadays. One star so far.
