The difference between listening to the delivery of Gaffigan's stand up and the same material being real aloud in a flat monotone is enormous.

This book is even better than I was expecting it to be. Loving the back and forth narrative, the characterizations. It feels like they had as much fun writing this as it is to read.

Was out on a run when I got to the part where the 'Before' met the 'After'. Made for a much more emotional workout than planned. Such a good book.

So far, this is as brilliant as everyone says it is. A coming of age tale covered in rich, beautiful prose. Not my usual. But nice.

Loving this book. Starts with a lot of Dan's background, his addictions and failures. A lot of focus on why he turned to mediation as a healing mechanism for context before he begins to describe, in stark relief, what his journey was really like.

Who knew a book about a guy working through his divorce through humorous anecdotes with his cats would be so cathartic?

Listening to the audible version (2nd time), this time with the fantastic James Marsters doing the reading. Not because there was anything wrong with the job John Glover did; because I'm a completionist.

These books are so much fun to read. Hard not to picture Fillion nee Castle writing these with that big goofy smile on his face. Another tongue in cheek James Bond spy story with the odd in joke to the TV series that spawned it.

About halfway through the audiobook and loving it. A documentary style narrative about the robot uprising, should probably be mandatory reading for this generation, with the singularity right around the corner.

"and washed her face and hands and feet." Damn, that Underthing is a filthy place to live. That or Auri has a cleaning compulsion worse than my ex wife's.

I've read this story many times before, but it's underlying message of refusing to accept the state of things and choosing the change in your life is one that's always stuck with me. And so I thought it was the right time for a re-read. Get busy living or get busy dying. Stephen King at his finest.

The prose took a little getting used to but the story is unique, and the characters interesting. I'm interested in seeing how this challenge plays out.

Reading this to my daughter has been a real treat. Watching her fall in love with elves, dragons, magic and hobbits. Its awesome.

About 2/3 through. A few bright spots, nothing that stands out as a bad story. One exception: I'm listening to the audible version and cannot get through the one read by Ice T. His narration is just so monotone its distracting. Otherwise a good collection so far.

I've heard it said, and typically agree, that flawed characters make for interesting characters. But there's flawed, and then there's moronic. I can't believe I've followed Fitz through almost 7 books and I'm only now fully appreciating what a complete idiot he is.

I've just about had it with Fitz' inability to make a good decision. Catalyst, my ass. If I were Fitz, Shun would be out on her ass or dead by my hand and all these meddlers telling me how to raise my daughter would see my back for the last time.

I've noticed a lot of reviews for this book complain about there being too much sex in it. I'm almost 500 pages in and there is still no sexual activity in sight. At all. Were they reviewing the right book?

Rothfuss takes the long way to get there but the scenery and company make the trip worthwhile: “There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.”

I burned through the first book in the series in no time considering its size and this sequel looks to be on the same track. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Bouncing between audio and kindle versions. Just caught that Kvothe's village is pronounced 'Nowhere' when he says “You are, in fact, in the middle of Newarre.” This Rothfuss fellow is cheeky. I like him.
