This is interesting, but I was expecting more change in what's happening by this point.

"Above me the first stars were white ashes scattered over the burnt-black sky. The yolk of the moon throbbed, broken. Never had everything seemed so close and so far." Beautiful and strange!

Narration really draws you in and pulls you along through this unusual story.

Love how the story keeps being gradually more than it appears to be.

"This whole previous twenty-four hours had been a series of urgent, awful emergencies getting interrupted and displaced by more urgent, more awful emergencies." Making for a tense, gripping read!

Reading this for book club. Not that into it, unfortunately.
