Nikolaos stays razor-witted, serpentine, and unsettlingly charming… of course she’s my favorite. Why am I like this with villains?

It drifts between quiet, eerie build-up and sudden bursts of action. The pacing keeps shifting, but the dark atmosphere has me hooked.

I basically like every other character but Anita. She comes off as a pick me. Since this is written
On first person, I have to assume she’s fatfobic too. But I suppose that was more acceptable in the 90s

I’m not crazy about the Main Charater, which is ironic considering this series is called Anita Blake Vampire Slayer. That being said I really enjoy how this author writes men.

I am reading this like crazy! 🤪 I was told the first few books were great, and then a sudden decline in storyline, mostly just sex after that. I prefer to make my own judgements.

The OG urban fantasy - love Anita Blake. So nice to start my 4th re-read but this time immersive. The audiobook is pretty good 👌🏻

Started this yesterday after the Karen Read trial FINALLY ended. It's really good so I'll finish it today and start the second book most likely.

did NOT expect that character to die but also I have a bad feeling someone else is gonna die too

it’s funny knowing that this series becomes “Anita gets gangbanged for 400 pages” when in this book she’s like “omg vampire sex? ICKY!!”

also I am getting so many of these men confused. I feel like we maybe got too many namedrops early on.

and it’s weird how we’re like halfway but it doesn’t *feel* like it. There’s been a lack of punch to it

➻ I kinda like Jean Claude. There seems to be chemistry there.
➻ Anita can see in the dark and seems to have some affinity for withstanding vampire influence, as well as the actual necromancy. Are necromancers actually another species?
➻ Monica was just weird.

Better the first time I read. More suspense

I have always been put off by how many books are in this series but it was on sale on audible so why not finally give it a go

I’ve read this book many times over the years, the Anita Blake series has always been one of my comfort go-tos. It’s nice hearing the audiobook for the first time.

Restarting my comfort book series because i can ☺️☺️
