Do you ever reread a book from your childhood, and there are parts in there that you don't even remember reading for the life of you? Me during the whole sorcerer tower part.

Ngl, this is solid so far, though. Very much Hobbit/LOTR vibes, and I'm almost to what I remember as my favorite part. The excitement is still there.

I feel like my brain is broken; I can't tell if the dialogue in this is funky and all over the place or if I'm missing something.

Rereading books I remember loving when I was younger, and this one was first on the list. All I remember is that she takes her sister's place as a sacrifice to a group of vampire-like creatures. I've been craving vamps for a while, so I'm hoping this will scratch the itch.

I love this book. The only thing that just bothered me was Luthiel being asked if she wanted to take a hot bath while being covered in bandages because she's severely wounded. That's one way to make sure you'll keep your wounds open.

Truly a relief after so many terrible YA romances in fantasy books. The only thing I dislike is that I probably just guessed a big part of the plot and I love plottwists that can't be guessed easily. But that's okay.

I think I've finally found a fantasy book that may not be, at least partially, ruined by its horribly written romance. This is just my instinct talking though. But it's positive.
